Kentucky Market Owner Charged With Arson

October 28, 2014

A southern Kentucky store owner is scheduled for arraignment next month on charged that he set fire to his business to collect an insurance settlement.

Kentucky State Police say 53-year-old David Kevin Ring of Brownsville torched Ring’s Crossroad Market on Sept. 29, 2013. He is charged with arson, fraudulent insurance acts and burning personal property to defraud an insurer.

The court appearance is set for Nov. 17 in Edmonson Circuit Court.

State Police arson investigator Terry Scott told the Daily News the store was closed that day and no one was inside.

Scott says Ring was previously convicted in California of receiving stolen property, illegal possession of explosives, burglary and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
