Mississippi State University to Control Commercial Tailgaters

July 30, 2013

Mississippi State University has adopted new rules for commercial tailgating companies that set up in areas traditionally used by fans.

Such companies are paid by fans to set up their tailgating area.

A fee system for commercial tailgating companies will be in place for the 2014 season.

MSU officials say two areas will be designated for Commercial Tent Operations. The companies will have to register with the university, provide proof of liability insurance and agree to abide by rules for set up, clean up and others.

MSU says other schools in the Southeastern Conference have put such rules in place as commercial tailgating operations gain popularity and tensions develop between traditional tailgaters and those who prefer to pay commercial vendors to provide their tailgating setups.
