A fire that broke out in the building that houses the Alabama Department of Insurance has forced the closing of the office on Thursday, July 19 and Friday, July 20.
The fire affected another floor in the building not occupied by department staff.
Power to the building was knocked out as a result of the sprinkler system extinguishing the fire. The extent of the damage to the electrical system is unknown.
