Because of an alarming increase in suspected arson fires in Kentucky, State Fire Marshal William Swope is asking citizens to provide information to help solve the crimes.
Since December, arson has been suspected in nearly a dozen fires in Pulaski, Jessamine, Fayette, Madison and Lincoln counties.
Swope said in a statement the fires have cost home and business owners millions of dollars in losses and could cause injuries or deaths.
He urges anyone with information that could lead to an arrest to call the state Arson Hotline at 1-800-27-Arson.
