Pelham, Alabama police say they’re searching for suspects after $10,000 worth of damage was done at the city park.
Parks and Recreation Director Billy Crandall said he believes the crime might be gang-related and a form of retaliation against the state government.
WBRC-TV reports that the vandalism included gang graffiti and inappropriate drawings on the walls of the restrooms at the park. It also included profanity-filled messages opposing House Bill 56, Alabama’s new law on illegal immigration.
Authorities said the vandals also spray-painted playground equipment.
