The fourth annual KEMI Mine Safety & Training Competition held earlier this month in Pikeville, Kentucky featured more than 500 coal miners from Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The event, hosted by Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance, also drew over 200 officials from the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MHSA) and the Kentucky Office of Mine Safety & Licensing (OMSL), who served as judges for the three day safety training event.
Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance provides workers’ compensation insurance to more than 20,000 Kentucky businesses.
