Southaven, Mississippi has been awarded a $2.1 million hazard mitigation grant to deal with flood conditions in the Autumn Woods subdivision.
The grant from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will help mitigate flooding that has occurred in the subdivision for years.
The Commercial Appeals reported the city will contribute 5 percent in local funding and pay $110,394 for the project.
The Autumn Woods project will involve installing a holding pond and piping to divert water flow around the subdivision.
