Someone who feels that 100mph is a good idea while straddling two wheels does NOT belong on the roads with me and my kids.
Down here they constantly weave in and out ON THE LINE between cars at speeds in excess of 100. And yes, even cars doing over 100 could be removed from their owners as far as I’m concerned.
The 100 club is more like a medal of honor down here these days. If they would actually lose something besides a couple hundred dollars it might stop.

For the first offence they should be given an ample warning. On the second offence they should be given a very small fine.
Onthe third offence they should be manually attached to the rear fender and drug until almost dead.
On the fourth offence they should be shot and sentenced to hell!

Hmmm… what to do when an idiot on a crotch rocket comes zooming between two lanes of traffic at 100 miles an hour…

    Open your car door. :)

That’s exactly what goes through my mind when I seem them coming in my mirror. ;-)

I did see one die once. He squeezed between two trucks that were slowing down. Of course they were slowing down because a light was turning red. But at his speed he couldn’t see that. Flew about 30 feet when he blew the red light and hit the car going on the green.

Since the speed limit on that road was 45, I’d say taking away his bike would have been a good idea BEFORE that day. He’d been dodging and weaving for a good two miles behind me and squeezed in between me and another car about 30 seconds before the accident, so I’m guessing it wasn’t his first time in the 100 mph club.

Sorry for his family, not enough left of him to identify without dental records. Real sympathy for the couple he hit. But I can’t seem to feel anything other then ‘he could have prevented his own death’ for him.

Although it’s easy to throw stones at bikers who stunt and speed, the main person in danger is the rider. It’s delusional to think that they are a greater danger to other motorists vs. tired/and or careless truck drivers, drunk drivers, and generally aggressive drivers. And nobody’s calling for the heads of people who are guilty of these offenses.

Sure we do. We just don’t get it until they’ve killed a couple people.

I agree with harsher penalties for these idiots on their crotch rockets. They give motorcycling a bad name. Most of us are a bit older and far more safety conscious. There is a time and a place for 100 MPH but it is on a wide open stretch of highway with no other people even in sight.

    Realist,

Everyone was simply commenting on this article which specifically discussed crotch rockets. I personally think anyone driving like that should be treated the same way.

I agree that the idiots who do things like that need to have their licenses taken away. While riding on my bike I was cut off by a crotch rocket going at least 20 MPH over the speed limit who decided to exit at the last second. He proceeded to go up the exit ramp on one wheel.

If I could have gotten there in time I would have personally removed him from his license.
