Citizens is already receiveing bailout money for past claims expenses. This is comletely unfair to the private market, and nothing more than a premium deferral plan for the residents of FL. Citizens does not have adequate reserves to pay claims. All of us will be paying in the form of taxes and assessments. Not one dollar is actually being saved by anyone.
Citizens lowering their rates as a result of the January legislation is comical. They do not buy reinsurance, and are not achieving any savings to pass on to policyholders. They are now looking to protect the massive amounts of government jobs that have been created by lowering their already unsound rates further.
The proposed legislation is a disgrace. Make Citizens more competitive? They are insolvent, and assess their competitors for all of their massive losses. How does one make them \”more competitive\”?

We in the Rest of the World are waiting for the Big One to hit you Floridians, \’cause we know we will be expected to bail you out of the horrific mess you have allowed your legislators and governor to make of the insurance industry there. Makes little difference whether you have Citizens or Private Company, you will come to us with your hands out. We\’re waiting. But maybe some of you Floridians are, too.
Citizens should have plenty of money to pay for CAT losses . Their preium was double that of another company that gave a quote with more coverage. Give it time! I agree with one statement below that when the money flows in the insurance companies are there to extort it from you but when it comes to paying a claim every consumer owneed junk or is trying to buck the system.
I\’m going to say it again look on MSN insider trading under some of these major carrier symbols and see what the CEO,CFO\’s took home as stock option bonus\’ in addition to any salary and/or salary raises!

How have \”I ALLOWED\” this to happen? I am a working class person who just wants to pay his insurance bill.
