A homeowner from New Orleans called to tell me the $450 he spent on a flood policy was the best money he ever spent. Where else can you get $350000 for that pittance? Is there any wonder the NFIP is such a white elephant?

FOR ALL OF YOU WHO THINK LIKE MR. BAILEY THAT SUCH A HIGH MORALED, REPUTABLE, HONORABLE AND UNWAVERINGLY SCRUPULOUS INSURANCE INDUSTRY WOULD NOT DARE STOOP TO SUCH TACTICS AS CHANGE AN ENGINEERS REPORT, A REPORT THAT THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY IN FACT PAID FOR, I FOR ONE CAN TELL YOU IT IS NOT ONLY PLAUSIBLE, IT IS PROBABLE. MY HOUSE WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED BY HURICANE KATRINA. I REQUESTED TO MEET AND DID MEET THE ENGINEERS WHEN THEY INSPECTED MY HOMESITE, THEY TOLD MY WIFE, MY DAUGHTER AND ME THAT IT APPEARED THAT MY HOUSE HAD BEEN DESTROYED BY THE WIND BECAUSE WHOLE SECTIONS OF MY ROOF WERE IN MY FRONT YARD. HOWEVER, I WAS DENIED HOMEOWNERS COVERAGE BY MY INSURANCE CARRIER BECAUSE THEY SAID THE ENGINEERS REPORT STATED MY HOUSE WAS DESTROYED DUE TO FLOODING. I CERTAINLY BELIEVE THE INDUSTRY DECIDED EARLY ON TO GET OUT OF AS MANY CLAIMS AS THEY COULD BY WHATEVER MEANS WAS NECESSARY. IF IT WALKS LIKE A DUCK, LOOKS LIKE A DUCK AND QUACKS LIKE A DUCK, IT IS PROBABLY A HORSE IF YOU BELIEVE SO STRONGLY THAT THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY WOULD NOT DENY COVERAGE TO SAVE ITS BOTTOM LINE.

With All Due Respect to Mr. Bailey
    and Mr. Scruggs too,
Sometimes We are Not Always Right.
One thing that I have learned in this life is not to bruise a Man\’s Ego. Sometimes it can\’t be prevented.
However to To Prevent this argument
    wind vs water,
May I suggest allowing FEMA to sell HURRICANE INSURANCE,
INCLUDING WIND AND OR WATER DAMAGE.
    WE ARE GUARANTEED PAYMENT.
I PERSONALLY WOULD ENJOY REINVESTING IN AMERICA BECAUSE I CERTAINLY REGRET HAVING TO PAY STATE FARM since my home was destroyed and they denied my 1st and only claim.
Respectfully Sirs…One of us is wrong.
We Need the Truth. We need Justice.
Did you ever wonder WHY & HOW
the Ins. Industry has so much MONEY
    for so many years?
    FACT: ADD THE FOLLOWING:
    Homeowners ANNUAL PREMIUM
    Homeowners POLICY DEDUCTIBLE
    Homeowners HURRICANE 15% DEDUCTIBLE
Trump Card:INS PAYS ABOVE THE WATER LINE
    TRUMP CARD: MINUS DEPRECIATION
TRUMP CARD: If Your Home VANISHED…
INS BLAMES WATER FOR ALL DAMAGE
    If you are Lucky,
The Ins will pay for a roof.
    TRILLION DOLLAR QUESTION:
HOW MUCH DOES A NEW ROOF COST?

    THEY WIN.
WE, THE PEOPLE … LOOSE AGAIN.
    They have Our Money
And They Have Our Power too!
Reckon They can afford to Lobby
    and the Homeowner is Powerless.
    UNTIL NOW….
    A hurricane called Katrina
    Blew their covers off too.
    They\’re fighting mad too,like gangsters,
and using trump cards to trump political
    parties on all sides.
Mums the word with the media…
and When you need them MOST.
FACT: I PERSONALLY CAUGHT MY STATE FARM ADJUSTER LYING TO DENY THE CLAIM…
\”STATE FARM REFUSED TO PAY $1
    BECAUSE THE ENGINEERING FIRM SAID…
    IT WAS ALL WATER DAMAGE.\”
I ASKED HIM FOR THE NAME OF THE ENG.FIRM
HE REFUSED TO GIVE ME THE NAME.
I IMMEDIATELY TOLD HIM THAT I QUESTION
ANY ENG. FIRM THAT WOULD SIGN A
DOCUMENT THAT WAS FALSE OR UNTRUE.
MONTHS LATER I FOUND THAT MY RECORDS
DO NOT SHOW OR INDICATE THAT ANY ENGINEER
OR ENGINEERING FIRM WAS EVER PRESENT OR
ON MY PEMISES IN BAY ST.LOUIS.
    STATE FARM APOLOGIZED AND SAID
THEY WOULD SEND OUT ANOTHER ADJUSTER
    IMMEDIATELY.OOPS… THEY LIED AGAIN.
ALL THEY DID WAS HAVE ANOTHER STATE FARM PRO CALL ME TO ARROGANTLY DENY THE CLAIM AGAIN. BUT THEY DID SAY THAT THEY WOULD RECONSIDER PAYING… IF I WOULD MAIL THE VIDEO EVIDENCE TO THEM FOR THEIR REVIEW. LOL

I SAID, SIR, I AM SORRY BUT YOU WILL HAVE
TO WAIT TO SEE THE VIDEO & YOU WON\’T
SEE IT UNTIL WE ARE INSIDE OF A COURTROOM.
AND YOU WILL LIVE TO REGRET DENYING THIS ROTTEN CLAIM. I WILL STAND UP AND DENOUNCE YOU BY NAME. AS GOD IS MY WITNESS THIS IS THE TRUTH AND HE IS MORE POWERFUL THAN ANY MAN ON THIS EARTH.
HOWERVER, I HAVE TO LIVE HERE AND I DON\’T WANT TO STEP ON TOES BUT I WILL STOMP YOUR FOOT IF YOU BETRAY PEOPLE.

MY SF AGENT TOLD ME THAT ANYONE WITH A VIDEO WAS PAID ON THE SPOT AND IN FULL TOO!
WE\’RE GOING TO FIND THE PAYEES THAT WERE PAID ON THE SPOT BECAUSE THEY HAVE VIDEO
    EVIDENCE. FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!

    IS THAT CALCULATING ENOUGH?
    1 + 1 = 2 24/7
DOES THAT ADD UP TO SHOW PROOF?
PROOF OF CALCULATING & CLEAVER WAYS TO PROFIT?
THAT’S WHY THEY HAVE SO MUCH MONEY FOR SO LONG.
THEY HAVE GOTTEN AWAWY WITH THIS FOREVER THAT IS UNTIL NOW…

TIME TO PAY UP OR GET OUT…THE USA.

THIS IS AMERICA AND THIS IS OUR LAND.

IS THERE ANY HONOR LEFT IN AMERICAN MAN?

STAND UP AND SEND IT IN.
    The TRUTH That is…
You can\’t serve two masters anymore
    Because
    THE TRUTH WILL PREVAIL.
PS. IF THERE IS A GOD THEN THERE WAS A REASON FOR KATRINA.
WHY WOULD GOD ALLOW KATRINA TO DESTROY OR LAND? COULD IT BE: DENOUNCE THEM BY NAME

    IF THERE IS A GOD…
HE KNOWS WHAT GOES ON BEHIND CLOSED DOORS & HE IS AS ANGRY AS ANY PARENT WOULD BE
IF SOMEONE LIED & CHEATED THEIR CHILD.

IF THERE IS GOD…WE ARE ALL HIS CHILDREN.

SO RUN, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN…
    ALL OF YOU BOYS..
IN THE GOOD OLD BOYS BAND.
WE\’RE TIRED OF CORRUPTION ON AMERICAN LAND.
\”SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOF TOPS\”
    PUT UP OR GET OUT!
    STAND UP AS A HERO
OR SIT DOWN LIKE A MOUSE
GRAB THEM…AND DO WHAT\’S RIGHT FOR THE
WORKING AMERICANS IN THIS GREAT COUNTRY.

Fact-Home OVER-insured by 30%! Based on PRE-storm market values and recent appraisal done late July 2005.
    NOT under-insured.
    -Contents Over-insured.
    -Liablility Over-insured x 3
They didn\’t mind taking my money for all of that!
    -Medical Malpractice-Highly insured
-Autos-FULL coverage even on the 15 year old one. They paid about 50%-70% of the going rate on all but 1 and took until January to do that. We are still duking that last one out. They can\’t find a comprehible one in my area so they are allowed to go Outside the 90 mile radius to get prices. However, if I dispute that info, I must hire an adjuster and also find 3 comprehible vehicles Within the 90 mile radius. Well, I found 3 (even tho they couldn\’t!), but now they say that\’s retail and they don\’t pay that. I even offered to compromise between what they offered and what the going price was but still they say no. They even threatened to bring it back to my yard if I didn\’t accept their offer although I know FOR A FACT that the gov\’t has forbidden these vehicles be resold or returned due to untold contamination. (Otherwise, I would have kept my truck in the first place and my son-in-law would have prob. had it fixed by now. Too late now, all the corrosion and damage done.)
They also like to go do \”field adjustmens\” on the damaged cars and tally it up citing POST storm damage then defy you to prove different.
To quote Dick on \”3rd Rock from the Sun\” (when they were buying a new car and were asked if they wanted insurance).
[sic] \”Insurance? Why would I want insurance? Insurance is just a huge gamble against myself and the only way I win is if I lose everything or become horribly disfigured.\”
Lucky Dick, he wasn\’t here during Katrina! Or he would have lost everything and still lost!
One more fact- A couple I know had EVERY possible insurance except earthquake. Their home still sits off it\’s slab, half in the street, and they are still paying over $1,300 a month mortgage while waiting for someone/anyone to pay up!
So don\’t yell at me for being cheap on insurance. I had what I was told was more than adequate coverage. I am but one of the tens of thousands of stories just like this.
God Bless you all! And come see for yourself!

Ask Your Auto Agent to Define their term called REPLACEMENT.
In LA, you can deny their offer and make them find a vehicle that was in the same condition, equal to your vehicle prior to Katrina. Not sure if your policy reads the same in MS.
Good Luck and We\’re On Your Side Fighting for Justice All the Way…
Don\’t worry about what other people say because this has not happened to them.

Yet more crisis\’ we are facing here now One is that even those with money or -gasp- insurance settlements big enough to cover rebuild are facing:
The City/County officials, Insurances big wigs, state insurance officials, FEMA, etc have all decided we need to rebuild our homes and make them HIGHER. How high? No one knows yet, so almost no one can rebuild. I can understand homes in flood plains or those that flood on a regular basis might need to go up a tad higher than 8 feet, but why are we ALL possibly being forced to incur yet another cost we can\’t afford over an issue that is not likely to come up again for many, many years-if ever????
I mean, after you go so high with a house on pilings, it\’s gonna tip over or fly off in a hurricane even if water doesn\’t come anywhere near it.
Now, my BIG question is this: If we on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are required to build higher, buy perpetual flood insurance (not an issue with me-I will have it even if I think a sink is going to overflow!), restructure our entire lives, infrastructure, reorganize and combine city governments, etc, they why isn\’t the entire US COASTLINE from Brownsville, Texas and all Gulf of Mexico coastal areas, and Atlantic regions from Key West all the way up to the Northernmost tip in Maine, going to be required to do the same? They are all as prone to a Catagory 5 hurricane as we are. Could this possibly be discrimination? (And please do remember I am talking about Coastal Mississippi, not New Orleans, which is just a big bowl of filled-in marsh surrounded by water on all sides and obviously weakened levees.)
The stupidity of this jump-start band aid approach is unbelievable. And because FEMA funds will play into helping rebuild our schools (let\’s face it-the gov\’t is financially responsible for building about 99% of USA public schools anyway), our less than 3 year old schools will have to be torn down simply because they received approx. 2 feet of water from this freak tidal wave. They also are trying to take, by eminant domain, the one remaining green parcel 50 acre plot left in city limits to build a new school complex. This land is closer to the Gulf by over 1 mile, has very little road access-none of it safe, is next to a major railroad crossing, and would invade an entirely residential area. The schools were all refurbished in the last 8 years, 1 is less than 3 years old, and are on a land tract that will allow them to spread for years. So my dumb idea of the day is…instead of building new schools in a more flood prone and dangerous area at the cost of BILLIONS, why not just put up an 8 foot waterproof wall all around the current area? The schools are cleaned and being phased back into use, the money\’s been spent, the current site is in a great central location to the area it serves, and we, the dumb butts who just pay taxes and insurance premiums, are broke already.
As I have warned before, if you don\’t tend to this problem NOW while you have opportunity to do so, the next big storm will wreak so much havoc Katrina will seem like a puff of wind.
Even though I am a bit off track on this issue, I thought it was something that you, as taxpayers and insurance premium payers and sellers, should think about.
    God Bless!

    Mrs. LB,
    1.Flood insurance won\’t cover a sink overflowing.
2.You still complain about having to \”flood-protect\” your home after what you say happened to you???????
    3. You complain that \”only you\” has to pay for flood proofing your home, so what?????
You need to look in a mirror and tell yourself to accept and grasp reality and move off the coast as you can\’t handle the truth.

**Ok, tired sympathizer, lighten up. Obviously you do not have any sense of humor!
1)Duh! I know flood insurance won\’t cover an overflowing sink. It was a JOKE!
2)I thought I clearly stated that we now and will always have flood insurance. And I am NOT complaining about it. (My whole tirade has been about the insurance industry attempts to rip off people who had both kinds of damage and tried to weesle out of paying for obvious NON TIDAL WAVE damage or co-occurring damage. As well as telling us we would never need flood coverage in our location in the first place! And depending on the Federal Gov\’t -us taxpayers- to bail everyone out while the fat cat insurance execs tally up their $50 million CEO packages.)
3)What part of \”everyone\” and \”just me\” don\’t you get? I said we were ALL being forced to make these alterations. And my point was that WE ALL feel like we are being discriminated against. If this portion of Coastal USA has to do it, then wouldn\’t it be prudent and pre-emptive for the rest of the USA coastlines to prepare and prevent now rather than try to fix later? And cheaper on you insurance people in the long run.
4)I don\’t need to look in the mirror and pump myself up or tell myself to face reality. I don\’t have time to because I DEAL WITH REALITY DAILY. We do it because this is HOME to us. Where do you live? Maybe you should move away from there just because a disaster hit your area? Or might hit? But, please, don\’t come down here. We\’ve got enough of your type already. And if you are from here, then shame on you for not supporting your neighbors and friends who may not have had it as good as you did.
    God Bless!

I volunteered to go down to the hurricanes to try to help out. I have been all over the country and never have I run into such a bunch of red-neck welfare cases in my entire life! You claim that you deserve to have coverage because you have been paying premium. You have not been paying premium for flood. I suggest you learn to read, which may be a bit of a challenge given the mental capacity of most Mississippians I have met, because the policy you signed and which you agreed to outlined everything in detail. In our policy, flood is exclution number one…first page…first paragraph. Hardly burried in the policy language as you have stated. Learn to read what you sign!!! It is unfair for you to demand insurance pay for things they never agreed to just because they have money…oops, I guess that is what we should expect from welfare livin, tax cheatin, trailer trash from Mississippi. By now, you will have learned that we have handed that slime ball Dickless Scruggs his head in court in the leonard v. nationwide suit. All I can say is, we were right, you were wrong and God has put you where you belong…in a trailer!!! Probably stole your house from welfare checks anyway!
