We have just received our renewal policy for 2007. Iwas floored by the increas in the premium. Last year we paid $380 for hurricane coverage and $473 for other coverage total $853 for the year. Our new premium notice has $1,226 for hurricane and $956 for other. total premium $2,182. We live in a moble home 25 miles from the coast. I know that this is why we pay a higher premium, but is this fair? Can anyone help?

In Oct 04, I had $19,000 in damages from hurricane jean to my manufactured home. I called my agent with whom I had insurance
coverage carried by Safeway P I Co. of Gainsville,FL. In 4 to 5 days, Safeway called me & verified they had initiated a claim for me & would have an adjuster contact me for an appointment. A week later the adjuster came, computed my damages & informed me I would probably be getting a check (minus deductable) in about 2 to 3 weeks. It all happened like clockwork, I was very satisfied with the whole procedure. Now, heres the kicker My premium is due in March so 2005\’s premium notice came with a small increase (only because FL law says that Insurance Co\’s cannot drop a consumer for a claim until the damaged property has been fully repaired) I couldn\’t get a contractor to do the work until Sept. 2006 so I escaped the axe for a year. Today, Dec.23,06 I recieved my notice of cancellation on the due date in March 2007. Their Reason:
    TO REDUCE EXPOSURE TO HURRICANES…
In my research up to this point, I\’m up the proverbial river without a paddle.

Thanks for the fax no. Also rec’d mysterious telephone no. thru your website
My neighbor had her premium doubled in December. Mine stayed almost the same in November of 2006. Now I’m wondering how much my premium will rise shortly.

I am currently applying for mobile home insurance with this company and was told they have an “A” rating. I have not been able to verify this and am a bit concerned after reading everyoen’s comments. Are there any policy holders who have had any recent “good” experiences with this company? I live in Florida and Citizen’s is certainly not considered solvent. Thanks for anyone’s comments.

I’d advise everybody to stay away from this Company. After having a policy with them for a year the rates quadrupled. I went to Nokomis and advised the agent i wasn’t going to pay this ridiculous fee. I requested and was told I could just get a liability type Insurance for over $400. I stupidly agreed and offered a check for full payment. The agent advised I’d be contacted by mail with the policy info. The only mail I received from them was a cancellation Notice for “Lack of Payment” They just strung me along with no intention of Insuring me again. (also a Buddy that went with me).I went with no Insurance for a couple years but just purchased complete coverage for less than $500. I could write a book about Safeway and Wanless but won’t waste any more of my time. I wonder if their CEO is somebody named Madoff?
