Their headquarters are in Westmont, ILL and that number is 630-887-8300, when we were having trouble getting in touch with anyone I called them – the lady was nice – she said if we did not hear from our adjustor in a month to call back and they would see what they could do. have you had an adjustor yet? that is who you need to contact…. hope this helps – it is very frustrating..

I have just been told by a contracter that the law now states that the insurance company can be fined $2500 per day for any day over 90 days that the claim is not handled within. I don’t know where to check on this but, I had a claim for Charley which they said I would have a check for in 2-3 weeks. It took two months and an email to the insurance commissioner. Search online for the (Florida State Insurance Commissioner.) I got a check immediately but they denied several items on the claim which now are going to cost them much more as additional damage has been done in the new storms due to not handling the first time. Now I have a claim from Jeanne and have been trying unsuccessfully ever since Jeanne to reach them. I have also gotten the voice mail repeatedly that mailboxes were full, etc. A month ago, a new message says to get digital pictures and estimates from contractor which has taken many weeks to accomplish as some want to charge up to $300 to give an estimate or don’t show up. The best was the guy who took pictures of the roof and lost them. Took over 10 calls and 2 months to get him to bring the estimate. FEMA covered whole roof with tarp so cant get pictures. Now the message says an adjuster will call in 10 days, I left all info asked for and it has been well over 3 weeks! So, I am sending the pictures that I can get, the estimate that I was able to procure and sending it w/a tracking number via UPS so the date is a registered date!

We are currently in the process of trying to find a provider other than Citizen’s to insure us. Any help would be appreciated.

My father contacted an insurance agency in Nokomis and was quoted a premium of $365/yr for $1000 deductible-all perils-adult park only for Safeway Property Insurance.

I called the agency in Nokomis to ask if this included Hurricane Insurance and they said yes, after you submit the application & check, and receive the policy, the policy will outline what is covered.

Sounds fishy to me. So I’m advising my Dad not to use this company.

After all of the problems before I decided to write the email to the insurance commisioner and this forum then write a thourough letter outlining all damage, enclosing disc with digital pictures of each damaged area showing referenced areas; I stated facts concerning the law and dates as to when claim had to be settled and facts about not being able to reach them, etc. I registered the letter to insure the start date of the claim so that they could not manipulate it this time and Viola’… They paid the claim this time one day from the last day that it was due to expire. I found out “It pays to know the law and state the law and your facts clearly!!! But, to also have it in writing and send it registered, making them sign for it.

Purchased Manufactured home Insurance on 3-17-05 at Goodnight/Wanless Insurance in Nokomis, Fla. Paid full years premium and was advised I’d get Policy in the mail. Received a cancellation notice from Safeway.Envelope was stamped 4-7-05. They cashed my check on 4-11-05. After numerous unanswered calls to Safeway and the mailbox being full at Goodnight I learned the reason was because my date of birth wasn’t on the application. This application was filled out by the agent not me…thus their mistake. Several days of unsuccessful contact via the phone and unanswered emails I finally received an email on 4-19-05 with an an apology and stated I would get a reinstatement letter in the mail shortly. As of 4-27-05 I haven’t received anything and again the mail box was full at Goodnight and couldn’t leave a message. I’m checking this and other websites for the Florida Insurance Commissions phone number and would appreciate any help from anyone that would be able to furnish me with other phone numbers and names of individuals that would help resolve this situation. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this insurance co. to anyone. I couldn’t believe that a company would be so discourteous with their customers and cancel them over a small detail that was created by their agent(the agent also has a copy of my Drivers License). I certainly wouldn’t run a business this way but, because of last years storms and others Insurance Co’s are refusing new applications and cancelling policies Safeway knows they are in demand. I’d also stay away from the Jim O’connor Agency in Bradenton, Fla. The female agent their got all upset when I told her I was going to shop for my Insurance. After a week not having time to shop and just wanting to Insure my place I called her and told her I would like to get my insurance through her. She said she was busy and would call me back. She never did. Catch my drift where the Manufactured and maybe all home Insurance Companies are going. They got us by the “ying yangs”.

Would like to make correction.I made a mistake about the Jim O’connor Agency in Bradenton. This is a good agency. The agency I meant to refer to was: All Lines Insurance in Bradenton. This is the company that apparently didn’t need my business because they never returned my call and was originally upset over me shopping around instead of cutting them a check right away.
Anyway, I tried contacting Goodnight Insurance in Nokomis today 4-29-05 and once again got a message the mailbox was full so I couldn’t leave a message.
I then left a message at Safeway Insurance, Gainesville to call me. To my surprise I received a call back within 30 minutes. I was told my Insurance was reinstated and they sent me a reinstatement letter on 4-25-05. Possibly it was sent to my Fla. address instead of my NY address. If this is the case I realize it will take a little longer for me to receive it since it will have to be forwarded. Although this was explained to them earlier that I was a “snowbird” and everything should be sent to my NY address. As far as not receiving any policy……Gainesville said this was up to my agent to send it to me. Once again I explained I couldn’t get through to the agency and I didn’t have a fax machine to request it I was told to write them a letter. I believe my disbelief and anger of this situation was evident in my voice however I was not rude and couldn’t bring myself to say the things that were going on in my mind. I simply said, I’d take care of it and ended the conversation. I did however let them know, thanks to this website that alot of other people were also having similar problems to mine. Five minutes later I received a call back from the same female who told me she would send my policy to me before the end of the day.
I’ll keep you all posted with my results.I hope my information helps others so they don’t have to go through the same hassle and as yet to be determined if I’ve been “Scammed”. I’d be interested in seeing others post here the good and the bad about this company for others to view. Hopefully it will be more good!

My experiences are in the previous notices but after repeated calls over 7 months to the phone number listed on cover sheet which is all I ever received from them and from the 411 operator that were to no avail; I finally told my agent my “extreme” pain at the company, she promptly gave me a new number for them that worked. 888-723-3055 Good Luck
