Charlotte, N.C.-based American Wholesale Insurance Group (AmWINS), one of the nation’s largest independent wholesale insurance broker, has announced the appointment of Stephen J. Vaccaro Jr. as president of its specialty underwriting division.
In this newly created position Vaccaro will work to increase the profitability of the division’s entities through a focused growth strategy. In addition, he will help develop new programs, additional products and coordinate the division’s underwriting facilities as needed with primary and reinsurance markets in the United States, Bermuda and London. AmWINS Specialty Underwriting Division includes Americana Program Underwriters, Lambert Green Limited, Seaboard Underwriters, SPFM and Woodus K. Humphrey.
Vaccaro’s 34-year career in the excess and surplus lines segment of the insurance business has included senior management positions at AIG and The Home Insurance Company. Most recently he held the position of president and COO of the Essex Insurance Company.
