A Florida business owner has been arrested on charges that he burned down his seafood processing company in order to collect insurance proceeds, according to investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Investigators say Sanjeev “Paul” Singh, owner of Silverbeach Seafood Company, 633 Pam Lem St., allegedly burned the structure on May 4, resulting in $350,000 damages. Singh was arrested late Wednesday and booked into the Brevard County Jail. Singh was charged with arson, grand theft and burning to defraud. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
The fire investigation was conducted jointly by the State Fire Marshal’s Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms and the Brevard County Fire Department.
