The Texas Department of Insurance announced that the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association expert panel will hold a public meeting on Nov. 12 to discuss the progress of the panel’s work thus far. Attendees will have the opportunity to comment.
The purpose of the panel is to develop methods or models for determining the extent to which loss to TWIA-insured property may be or was incurred as a result of wind, waves, tidal surges, or rising waters not caused by waves or surges. After the panel completes its work, the commissioner will consider the panel’s findings and publish guidelines that TWIA must use to settle claims.
During this meeting, the panel plans to demonstrate their proposed method or model for determining the extent to which a loss to TWIA-insured property may be or was incurred as a result of wind, waves, tidal surges, or rising waters not caused by waves or surges.
