A Texas insurance industry group expects the tornadoes, hailstorms and severe thunderstorms that ravaged North Texas will generate millions in storm claims.
Sandra Helin is president of the Austin, Texas-based Southwestern Insurance Information Service. She says it’s premature to have a clear estimate of the scope of the damage from the Tuesday afternoon storm and tornado outbreak. However, “we’re sure it’s going to be in the tens of millions of dollars.”
“Insurance companies are sending in adjusters from across the country to handle all of the claims expected,” she said.
