A four-alarm apartment complex fire in suburban Dallas has left one person hurt and more than 80 residents displaced during extreme hot weather.
American Red Cross spokeswoman Anita Foster says volunteers worked Thursday to provide housing after 24 units at The Heights in Irving were damaged or destroyed.
Paramedics removed one woman on a stretcher during Wednesday night’s fire. Further details on her condition were not immediately available.
Dozens of additional residents had to evacuate because electricity at their undamaged units was lost, during the fire at a time when forecasters say temperatures were at about 90 degrees. Foster says Red Cross teams will also monitor that housing situation due to the extreme heat.
The cause of the blaze is sought.
