Baker, La., Fire Chief Danny Edwards says arson is suspected in an apartment building fire that left three families homeless.
Edwards said the fire began shortly before 5 p.m. Jan. 26 in a vending machine area attached to one of two buildings in the Singletary Plaza Apartments.
LaSanda Davis, who lived in the damaged building, told The Advocate that she was about to doze off on her couch when people began pounding on her door and telling her to get out.
Davis said she grabbed her two children and ran outside.
Edwards said firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in about 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
