Contract Worker in Louisiana Accused of Double-billing Insurers

May 21, 2009

Detectives from the Louisiana State Police Insurance Fraud Unit reported they arrested Bradley M. Businger of Gonzales after a lengthy investigation stemming from complaints submitted by AIG and Allstate Insurance Companies.

LSP detectives allege that that customers of the Baton Rouge based windshield repair business, “Crack Attack”, were being double-billed for windshield repairs. The investigation revealed that Businger had submitted nearly 30 billing invoices for repairs he never performed, the LSP said.

In some cases, the policyholders’ signatures were forged to show that they had authorized the work. The insurance companies paid out a total of $1,919 on the false billing between February and December 2008.

Businger was a contract employee for Crack Attack during this time, and his employment with Crack Attack ended in December 2008. The owners of Crack Attack cooperated with State Police Detectives throughout the investigation.

Detectives arrested Businger at a residence in Ascension Parish, transported him to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, and booked him on 28 counts of Insurance Fraud Pertaining to Auto Policies, five counts of Forgery, and two counts of Felony Theft.

The LSP said its fraud unit has investigated a number of similar cases in the Baton Rouge area over the past few years.
