I guess Joe is like the old \”8\” eight ball game. The first few times you ask it a question and shake and you see your answer, it\’s funny. Then after a while it gets really old and the answers get irritating. Should we rename joe from 1% to \”8\” ball. Like you said, you just ask him a few questions and most often than not, get a really off the wall answer.
I also have one other thing to add about joe\’s idea on hurricanes. I\’ve never knew there was a \”DRY\” hurricane vs. \”WET\” hurricane (?). That kinda makes me hungry. The only thing I knew you could get \”dry\” or \”wet\” were ribs. The only reason why storm surge has the \”potential\” to being higher in the gulf is because once the hurricane gets in the gulf it has more time to pile up water. That is it….like Temblor said, a cat 5 has just as much destructive force on the east coast of Florida if it is traveling at the right speed.

Joe, I didn\’t call you names, I simply pointed out that you stated Andrew as proof positive that S. Florida didn\’t have a surge problem from hurricanes.

    I pointed out that:

    1. The experts at NOAA severely disagree with you and
    2. Andrew was a cat. 5 with no significant surge because it was moving to fast, it literally outran it\’s surge.

Historical storms haven\’t caused as much of a surge problem because the areas they hit weren\’t so built up at the time.

The 1938 hurricane that hit Long Island sent a surge entirely across the island, washing into LI Sound. No one remembers that because there was nothing there at the time. Imagine what that would be like now.

I\’m sorry if the facts make you angry.

    James,

That is a fine effort on your part. Better luck moving the Rocky Mountains. Joe has horse blinders on and can only see what\’s directly in front of him. He does not wish to open his mind to other possibilities that some people are in touch with a larger picture. I have also been banging heads with him of which he has never answered any of my questions except by saying the same ole stuff.

No one here has defended State Farm, I even called it despicable of them to have that wording in their policy. But people can\’t have it both ways.

Can\’t buy insufficient flood insurance, thereby acknowledging that flood is not covered under the homeowners, collect max. available limits under the flood, then turn around and claim that wind driven water, surge, should be covered under the homeowners because, after all, it\’s \”wind\”.

Ha! Check out this site. Adjusterjoe is over there posting…

The article is about Allstate… and amazingly enough Joe isn\’t bashing them. I guess when State Farm wouldn\’t hire him he went to take a job at Allstate in their \”you don\’t have to know anything to work in this\” department.

Anyway, I particularly like this post.

Good one. When you make up the story then it suits your needs. I have personally heard the argument of Scruggs on tv and read the judgements against State Farm on the losses and none is for wind driven surge. Please refrain from beingso stupid that you must make up your story.\”

I supposedly made this part up:

\”Mr. Lott and several thousand other Mississippi homeowners are suing State Farm and other insurers, arguing that the winds of Katrina pushed floodwaters across the beaches and that the policies they bought that promise coverage against wind damage should be honored.\” (posted on nytimes.com)

It wouldn\’t let me paste the website link… so just google \”Insurers Get an Earful From Senator\”.

I must be even more cunning than I thought… I somehow managed to break onto nytimes.com to post this article that refutes what Joe has stated. Wow! I am good… or maybe he is just mistaken?

    Joe-

Grow up and stop calling people unwarranted names. I am not the stupid one… and I am also not the one who makes things up.

    Excellent post Temblor!

I like how Joe changed your posting name to Tremblor. He obviously doesn\’t have an eye for detail. It is not surprising then that he NEVER reads and understands our posts.

In any event, I am betting $5 that Joe will post about how you, David and myself (and whoever else doesn\’t slam SF incessantly) work for State Farm as clerical employees. According to him, we defend SF to the death. He lacks reading comprehension skills. He just wants to whine and cry and run in circles.

If we do work as clerical for SF though, you can either be the one who files the paperwork or the one who does data entry. I would like to be the coffee girl and help with miscellaneous tasks.

    Thanks :)

I\’m actually an independent agent working in the SE Florida area. I myself do very little homeowners, just clients and close friends, because it\’s too difficult to get them to do their insurance properly. I wish I had a $ for every time I\’ve tried to explain the difference between market value and replacement cost, and the need to insure to value (both HO\’s and flood).

It ain\’t worth the hassle, let them go to the direct writers who will do it however they want (except no one is writing new business down here now except a program or two just announced for high value clients).

One client asked why he wasn\’t getting credit for his shutters. Surprised, I asked if he had all the windows protected, he answered \”No, just the important ones\”. He\’s a nice sized commercial client so I put up with it.
