Texas-based CAA Member Agencies to Participate in Big ‘I’ Best Practices Study

December 20, 2005

Bigham-Kliewer-Chapman-Watts and Bosworth & Associates, two member agencies of Combined Agents of America, have been selected to be a part of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America “Best Practices” Study Group.

Founded in 1952, Bigham-Kliewer-Chapman-Watts is based in Killeen, Texas and offers business and personal property and casualty insurance as well as employee benefits, life insurance and financial services. Bosworth and Associates is also a full service agency. Based in Tyler, Texas, the agency has served East Texas since it was founded in 1939.

More than 900 independent agencies throughout the U.S. were nominated to take part in the annual study, but only 195 agencies qualified for the honor, 30 in each of six revenue categories and 15 in a seventh category for mega-sized agencies. An IIABA affiliated state association or an insurance company must first nominate the agency which then must qualify based on outstanding customer services, growth, stability and financial management.

The Best Practices Study was initiated by IIABA in 1993 as the foundation for efforts to improve agency performance. The annual study of leading independent insurance agencies, which is conducted for IIABA by Reagan Consulting of Atlanta, Ga., documents the business practices of these “best” agencies and urges others to adopt similar practices.

“Participation in the annual Best Practices Study has become a prestigious achievement for those that qualify for inclusion. It means the agency is among the best in the country. To be the top performer in one of the study’s peer revenue groups means that agency is the ‘best of the best.’ It is an outstanding accomplishment,” said Madelyn Flannagan, IIABA’s Vice President of Education & Research.
