Rivian Recalls Nearly 100,00 Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Display Issue

Electric vehicle maker Rivian Automotive said on Wednesday it is recalling about 100,700 vehicles, representing a majority of its vehicles produced to date, over a software issue that can obstruct the rearview camera display.

Here are some details:

• The recall covers certain 2022-2026 R1T pickup trucks, 2022-2027 R1S SUVs and 2027 R2 models, Rivian said. The issue is a non-compliance matter involving U.S. and Canadian rear-visibility safety standards.
• In an emailed statement, the EV maker told Reuters that, in rare instances when stability control is off, “a safety prompt asking to re-enable stability control may overlap the rearview camera view when shifting into reverse until the vehicle moves.”
• More than 95% of the affected vehicles have already received a software fix, the company said, adding that all vehicles produced after August 10 already include the updated software.
