Great American Insurance Group promoted David L. Thompson, Jr. to divisional president of its Specialty Property and Casualty AgriBusiness Division. 
Thompson, Jr. joined Great American in 2006 and held positions of increasing responsibility within the company. Within the Agribusiness Division, he provided oversight of the Claims, Product Development and Divisional Reinsurance Operations, as well as management of an underwriting team.
During his tenure with Great American, Thompson, Jr., served as a member of an international due diligence and acquisition team and led the creation and implementation of a Risk Management Program within the Company’s AgriBusiness operations. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College.
Jim Muething was named Divisional Group President and David will continue to report to him. In his new role, Jim will oversee the Company’s AgriBusiness, Equine Mortality and Specialty Excess & Surplus Divisions.
