Dan, I couldn’t have said it better myself!!

Stupid & Weak: I sat down the cigarettes over 15 years ago and walked away. You CAN do it if you CHOOSE to. Same with every other choice you make, quit drinking, loose weight, etc.

IT IS HARD TO STOP SMOKING. IT’S YOUR OWN DECISION. PAY THE TAX OR QUIT.

    so here’s the problem:

the gov’t knew about the addiction and had the recipe locked up in their own vault. what the gov’t fail to realize because of their own ignorance, there were so many medical bills that would be paid for out of medicare due to the the health risks. yet, even at the beginning when these cigarettes were put on the shelves, they were labeled for hazardous to your health. did anyone look at it? no! do we truly look at our labels on anything? i truly think that if you chose to do anything, we truly have to take our own responsiblity for our choices. big brother/companies should not have to bear the responsibility of anyone who misuses a product. don’t tell me that you can’t quit, because the law of numbers tells me that you can. (just like insurance, how we rate policy based on law of large numbers). $80B!!! this lady is how old? i bet all of her relatives are lining up at the door to get a piece of the pie and retire rather early! that lawyer should retire as well.

i like the idea of mattress/bed pain. can we say the same with the use of a pencil since it has lead? or the use of the copier due to the light used to scan the paper? or the city/state that allows folks to drum music into my house that rubbles the foundation (especially since i can’t find that car once it passes my house)? so where will it end?! when will one take their own responsibility for their own choices and actions? when will see stop seeing these frivilous lawsuits?

there are times when i think i could open a business of my own, but then rethink that due to the society’s apt to sue for any reason; i just might not!

so let me leave you w/this thought:

if i burn myself because i microwaved an item, i can sue whom? the microwave maker or the make of the item i am cooking – since afterall, it gave me directions on the package?

This court failed in it’s role. The only thing “supreme” about it is its level of ignorance and unrealism. You don’t let absurd verdict like this stand. The tobacco company isn’t being “punished” and NOBODY needs that kind of money even if tobacco was liable. It’s hard to have any faith in a legal system that lacks common sense. As for the “supreme court”, it seems to be intoxicated on its own flatulence.

The term “Supreme Court” is almost comical. It even sounds like vestiges of past civilizations. You have a select few men & women with egoes bigger than their a sses who dress up in robes and delude themselves into thinking they’re smarter than every other person on the planet. These old puss bags lack the common sense and fairness to be called “supreme” anything. Well, maybe there is one descriptor but I won’t go there.
