As a person who is a smoker and enjoys it, I think this is completely rediculous. If you choose to smoke, take the blame for the consequences!! On the other hand don’t desriminate against us smokers either by raising the taxes because of idiots like this that sue the tobacco companies. I don’t see them raising the alcohol taxes. At least with tobacco you are killing yourself, with alcohol and drinking and driving you have the potential of killing other in the process. Just my opinion and no this has nothing to do with those nuts at MADD!!

Give them a chance. The lawyers will eventually get to the alcohol companies. There are a lot of deep pockets there.

With a “verdict” like this, it’s a shame ignorance isn’t painful.

It is extemely hard to quit smoking. You don’t just lay down the pack and say I am done. Mostly all of us would quit if that were the case.

People calling addicts stupid and weak show lack of knowledge and compassion.

Yes. And while I agree it’s difficult to quit, so is dying and putting your family through hell while your doing it. Just because someone lacks the ability to quit doesn’t make the manufacturer of the product responsible. It’s a human/character flaw that’s the problem. Rehab, methodone, interventions, whatever. Sometimes it just doesn’t work. Game over.

I’ve always wondered about the conundrum of cigerettes. Some people like to smoke and its a free country so it isn’t against the law. Many people get sick and die from it so we spend a lot of educational money every year educating people about the evils of smoking and telling them not to. Then we punish the cigerette companies for making the evil things. Then we take sides and either defend a persons right to smoke or we condemn them for not being able to quit. Pretty weird situation really.

tobacco is like war – kills but stimulates the economy

unrelated but ironic – many states make it illegal for people to buy unpastuerized milk – a drink many of us grew up on – go figure

My sister in law has suffered from sex addiction for many years. Its sad, because its not her fault. Weve all tried to be supportive of her, but Ive had sex with her on numerous occations just because I know I can.
