American Physicians Assurance Corp., a provider of medical malpractice insurance in the Midwest and New Mexico, announced that premiums will be waived for the company’s insured physicians who volunteer with the relief effort for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
This program provides volunteers with up to 30 days of free medical professional liability coverage between Aug. 29 and Dec. 31, 2005, based on the time they volunteer.
To qualify, physicians should call their American Physicians’ agent or, in New Mexico only, the company’s Underwriting Department.
“Physicians who take the time to help our nation’s hurricane victims should be able to do so without worrying about the cost of malpractice coverage,” said R. Kevin Clinton, president and CEO. “Waiving their insurance premiums is one way in which our company can have a direct impact on the relief effort.”
