Sprint Notes Plans to Offer Mobile Claims Solution

May 25, 2004

Sprint has announced plans to launch Sprint Mobile Claims Adjustor, a mobile solution that will allow insurance claims adjustors to process claims on-site using wireless handheld devices.

Depending on what back-end systems an insurance carrier uses, agents will be able to use the new solution to access corporate applications for processing claims, locate available repair shops in the vicinity and, in some cases, issue checks to customers on the spot. Sprint Mobile Claims Adjustor will be available through Sprint business sales channels later this summer and is compatible with any data-capable wireless handheld device certified to operate on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network, including ruggedized equipment often used in the insurance industry.

Sprint Mobile Claims Adjustor is built on the M-Business Anywhere mobile application platform from iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase. iAnywhere is a provider of mobile-database, mobile-middleware and frontline-management solutions, providing mobile workers with virtually anytime, anywhere access to critical business information.

Utilizing the secure, high-speed data capabilities of the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network and open standards of the iAnywhere(R) mobile platform, insurance carriers can mobilize a wide variety of existing information systems or develop customized applications for mobile workers.
