Authorities say a condominium complex in western Michigan is among places hit hard by severe weather that moved through the state.
Kentwood Mayor Stephen Kepley tells The Grand Rapids Press on Monday that some residents of Leisure Acres condominiums were among those who stayed overnight at an American Red Cross shelter. Public works crews are clearing debris from roads.
A roof collapsed at Pizzazz Banquet Center, but no one was seriously injured. Phil Wilcher owns the strip mall where the banquet center is housed, and he says the damage in “unbelievable.” Wooden roof beams are exposed and a front wall is heavily damaged.
Wilcher says the building is insured, but will require a lot of work.
