A Lincoln, Neb., man who claimed he’d been hired to work on a vacant house is going to prison for causing $10,000 damage by tearing everything out of the house.
The Lincoln Journal Star says 55-year-old Allen Kilmer was sentenced Wednesday to one to two years in prison on criminal mischief, plus another six months on a failure to appear charge. Kilmer, who was charged last summer, pleaded no contest to the charges.
Police were called to a disturbance last July at the house, were Kilmer was having a garage sale. An officer contacted the owner, who said he never seen Kilmer before and had never hired him.
In addition to the damage, the owner said more than $4,000 in property was missing from the home.
