A former fitness center owner in Lincoln, Neb., has been accused of selling memberships despite knowing his business was going to close.
Lincoln police say 59-year-old David Meisinger faces a theft charge over the sales. He had operated New Image Fitness in central Lincoln.
Police spokeswoman Katie Flood says Meisinger let his staff sell memberships up to a day before he closed the business on Dec. 12.
He also faces a fraud charge, accused of falsely reporting burglary losses to police and his insurance company.
Meisinger didn’t immediately return a call Friday from The Associated Press. Online court records don’t list the case yet.
