Minnesota Snow Causes Havoc, 200 Crashes in 3 Hours

The first major snowfall of the season is causing plenty of problems on Minnesota roads, with hundreds of crashes reported in less than three hours. No fatalities or serious injuries have been reported.

The State Patrol said there have been 200 crashes statewide between noon Saturday and 2:45 p.m. Of those, 25 were injury crashes.

There were about 80 cases of vehicles spinning out or running off the road.

State Patrol spokesman Lt. Eric Roeske is delivering familiar advice in these situations – slow down. He says the snow is sticking to roads, making them slippery.

Winter storm warnings have been issued for west-central Minnesota, with the St. Cloud area expected to get up to five inches of snow.
