A man hurt in a fatal crash has filed a lawsuit against the driver of a vehicle charged in the Story County incident.
The Ames Tribune reports that Richard Dilz, of Madrid, sued Jeffrey Clendenen on Thursday, citing negligence.
Clendenen was charged this past week with vehicular homicide and serious injury by vehicle in the Feb. 17 crash near Kelly. He posted bond on Friday and was released from the Story County jail.
The sheriff’s office has said the 42-year-old Clendenen, of Ames, was drunk when he drove through a stop sign and collided with Dilz’s car. Clendenen’s passenger, 39-year-old Amy Rogers, of Ames, was killed.
A message left Saturday by the Associated Press for Clendenen’s attorney wasn’t immediately returned.
