A 17-year-old member of the Waldo Volunteer Fire Department is accused of setting two fires in Lima earlier this year.
According to the complaint, the teen told investigators he wanted to get a fire call so he could be a hero. The complaint also says he had not had a fire call lately and thought it would be “cool” to go on one.
The Sheboygan Press reports the teen told investigators he and a friend set fire to a barn in January. In a second case, the defendant said he and another friend set fire to a shed in March
The teen responded to both fires. No one was hurt, and neither building housed animals.
The teen now faces two counts of arson and one count of manufacturing Molotov cocktails.
