A fire has burned a two-story motel located in Algonac, Mich.
The Times Herald of Port Huron says there were no injuries from the blaze that was reported about 10 p.m. on Mar. 21 at the Rivers Edge Motel. Firefighters were on the scene until about 3 a.m. the next morning.
Algonac fire Chief Joe Doan says the fire started in a back office room. The cause was under investigation.
Owner Helen Meldrum says no one was inside when the fire started. The property is more than 100 years old and Meldrum says she’s run it as a motel since 1985.
It was a house with an attached doctor’s office before being converted into a motel. Algonac is located about 35 miles northeast of Detroit.
