Snow and ice have damaged part of the new grandstand at the State Fairgrounds in Minot, N.D.
State Fair Board member Gary Knell told the Minot Daily News that the roof of the Carousel Pub was damaged. He said repairs will be covered by insurance. A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available.
Knell says warm weather in late January loosened snow and ice on the grandstand roof, and a chunk fell onto the pub roof and dented it. He says it could have been worse, and officials will be looking into how to prevent it from happening again.
The $15 million grandstand opened last summer, replacing one that was more than 50 years old.
