Authorities are still looking for the cause of a fire that caused multiple explosions at a propane business near Akron in northwest Iowa.
The fire broke out late on April 1 at The Little Welding Store. Officials say the metal building contained hundreds of small propane tanks, setting off explosions inside the fire. But firefighters’ main concern was two 30,000-gallon propane tanks about 30 yards away.
Akron Fire Chief Shane Coyle says firefighters protected the large tanks until the fire burned down and they could get it under control.
No injuries were reported.
