The widow of former University of Kansas athletics director Bob Frederick is suing the city of Lawrence and a utility company.
In the lawsuit filed in Douglas County District Court, Margey Frederick alleges that negligence by the city and Black Hills Energy contributed to her husband’s death in June 2009.
Bob Frederick died after his bicycle hit a hole in a city street near the Kansas campus and he flew over the handlebars.
The lawsuit claims that the city and the utility were negligent for not making sure damage to the pavement was fully repaired.
Toni Wheeler, director of legal services for the city of Lawrence, says the city won’t comment on pending litigation. A Black Hills spokesman said the company wouldn’t comment until it reviewed the case.
