What you can do… go to http://www.petconnection.com and enter the information concerning your pet. As of 6 am PT this morning over 700 deaths had been reported. While I am certain there are some people that didn\’t provide regular vet care for their pets, this has happened to a great many who have had regular care. When I am not wearing my insurance hat, I volunteer on a pet website and I do reguarly hear people who want a free cure-all for what ever ails their pet, our usual response is get to the vet.
From the first release of information on this recall (on a Friday afternoon to the business news feed)Menu Foods has been a day late (or months late) in providing information. Even many vets have yet to receive any formal notice from their suppliers.
If this were baby food, I think the FDA and press would be taking a whole different tack. To many of us, our pets are family members just as children are.
Well, I\’m now cooking for three! I used to ridicule my uncle who cooks nourishing meals every night for his pets. No more! Manufactures of pet foods need to realize that in today\’s society, most of us who have pets have them for companionship and grow to love them as children. It disgusts me that they used animals to test their products when they knew that something was wrong with the food! These people should be punished in some way for their negligence.
The chicago woman is your typical money grubbing gold digging *****. Good luck to this pltf and her class action. I hope it gets denied. Just lost my cat one year ago, he was 17 so don\’t jump to conclusions and say i am an animal hater. i like animals more than i like most people. Fine make the company pay for the purchase price of the dead animal and the vet bills provided you have receipts and then grow up and move on.
Feed your pets ONLY veterinary exclusive brands, take your pet to the vet regularily. If you\’re not willing to spend the money to care for your pet properly, DONT HAVE ONE. I am a veterinary professional and I see the consequences of improper pet care every day. It\’s far cheaper in the long-run to feed veterinary diets and take your pet in for preventive care.
corn is a wonderful nutritional source, when processed properly. the same with byproducts. quality and processing are the key. the vet clinic where I work does NOT push science diet. We ONLY recommend veterinary EXCLUSIVE brands, which are continually tested and researched.
It just costed me over $800 in vet bills to cure my cat because of this issue…Should i send the vets bills directly to Menu Foods?? or is there somewhere to sign up for a mass civil case to sue??
You people are insane! I had a long time favorite pet German Shepard die from a bad parvo vaccine and the state required he get the shot–it sucked but what would suing someone do and who do you sue the vet-he didnt want to kill my dog it was his client– the manufacturer-nope a dead dog doesnt eat food, the state for requiring it now you might be on to something? My cats always eat dead stuff outside, sometimes bad people put antifreeze outside to kill cats who wander-antifreeze shuts down thier kidneys (learned that the hard way with one of our cats)-duh! So we are now going to count any dead cat in the last few weeks with kindey problems as a victim —give me a break!
\”I want my vet bills and I want some compensation for what they did to my kids _ and for the company\’s neglect,\’\’ You gotta be kiddin\’ me, you want loss of consortium as well? I have 3 cats and love them dearly but I can keep them in perspective. If you believe in \”putting them down\” then so much for your loss, other than vet bills and you damn well better be able to PROVE the connection; suits like this should only move along so long as the suer has the money to pay the same amount if they loose……

Agree with Drewboy. As a longtime Calif. independent adjuster, I\’m unsympathetic with hoked-up claims, even when human injury is alleged.
