A Vadnais Heights, Minn., woman has been criminally charged in Ramsey County District Court with one count of failure to provide workers’ compensation insurance, a gross misdemeanor, the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) announced.
Iris June Friede, owner of Midway Party Rental, St. Paul, Minn., reportedly failed to provide workers’ comp insurance from Sept. 17, 2000, to March 4, 2004, despite being repeatedly notified by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry of her obligation to provide the insurance.
The maximum penalty Friede could face is one year in jail and a $3,000 fine.
As a result of previous DLI investigations, Friede paid civil penalties and reportedly signed agreements that said she would obtain and keep workers’ comp insurance policies.
