Thousands of cyclists have pedaled through Rome in a demonstration demanding more respect and safety for those who get around the city on two wheels.
They took to their bikes in a protest that made its way past city sights such as St. Peter’s Square and the Colosseum on Saturday to promote the use of bicycles as a way to reduce pollution caused by transport.
At one point, responding to a signal by organizers, the protesters got off their bikes and laid down in the street to symbolize the cyclists and pedestrians who are struck and killed by cars.
