Brazilian firefighters say a 13-story building has partially collapsed in an industrial suburb outside Sao Paulo, killing a 3-year-old girl.
Fire department spokeswoman Vanessa Andrade says the concrete floor of the top story collapsed, taking with it all of the other floors in the building. The shell of the structure remains standing.
She says the causes of the Monday night accident in Sao Bernardo do Campo are being investigated.
Six people suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.
Andrade says at least one person is known to be missing. She is a 25-year-old nurse.
Andrade says most of the building’s 74 units were occupied by commercial and doctors’ offices and one luncheonette.
