Marsh Names Cheung to Head UK Modeling Team

January 31, 2007

Marsh announced from its London office the appointment of Man Cheung as Leader of its Modelling, Analysis and Design team in the UK. He will report to Eddie McLaughlin, the team’s Global Practice Leader, and will oversee the delivery of modelling, analysis and design services to clients around the UK. He will also focus on strategic product development and new business creation.

Marsh noted that Cheung, 32, “has worked in the industry for 10 years and was Highly Commended in the Young Broker of the Year category in 2006’s Insurance Day Awards and listed in Insurance Time’s Top 25 future leaders in the Broking Industry. With a strong background in actuarial consulting, Mr Cheung was previously acting Deputy Leader of the team and Technical Director for Business Risk Consulting, where he worked on a wide variety of projects in US, Europe and the Far East across numerous sectors including marine and energy and national/central governmental organisations.”

McLaughlin commented: “Risk modelling has grown in prominence in recent years from focusing simply on conventional Financial Modelling, to include all sorts of uncertainties, such as modelling the most efficient use of capital and risk appetite, catastrophe related modelling, quantifying business in strategic risk and numerous other financial or risk related uncertainties. Companies are increasingly seeing the material value of well-executed risk modelling in both traditional and non-traditional risk.

“Man’s strong technical expertise, coupled with his incisive understanding of the risks our clients face, will no doubt prove invaluable as we grow our risk modelling business in the UK.”
