St. Paul Travelers announced the formation of a National Programs business unit in Canada to offer tailored property and casualty insurance products to groups of commercial businesses that have similar characteristics or that are part of an association or affinity group. The new unit is based in Toronto and focuses on programs that service small to mid-size mainstream commercial businesses.
“Our U.S.-based national programs business has been extremely successful, and we’re hoping to duplicate this success within our Canadian operations,” said Rick Smith, president of Global Underwriting for St. Paul Travelers. “Our current program underwriting expertise combined with our specialized claim and risk control services give us a distinct competitive advantage. We know how to write this business and we’re ready to expand into the Canadian marketplace.”
The new business unit can provide customized insurance packages as well as risk control and claims services for businesses in a variety of industries.
