New York state troopers say 101 trucks were taken off the road during a recent road check of commercial vehicles along the Southern Tier Expressway.
Troopers say they found such serious safety violations as unsecured loads, inoperable signals and problems with lights or brakes.
The road check ran from May 11 to 14 in Tioga and Steuben counties along Interstate 86 and State Route 17. State police say they made 833 inspections and found 1,326 violations.
State police say 45 drivers were taken off the road for severe safety violations, including eight for having an improper driver’s license or no license at all. Troopers say 28 drivers exceeded their allowable hours of service, and four weren’t medically qualified to drive their vehicles.
