Federal officials have shut down a Springfield, Va., bus company after they say multiple safety violations were found.
Advanced Ventures, which provides charter services, operates a small fleet of motor coaches and minibuses throughout the Mid-Atlantic. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration ordered it to stop all operations on Wednesday.
Investigators say that Advanced Ventures falsified annual vehicle inspection documents. Authorities also say inspections of five buses found 39 safety violations; two vehicles were immediately placed out of service.
Investigators also say Advanced Ventures allowed drivers to transport passengers before receiving the results of pre-employment drug and alcohol tests, as federal regulations require.
