Police are telling homeowners to lock their doors and turn on their alarms because of a wave of burglaries in recent weeks in New Jersey’s Bergen and Passaic counties.
Burglars struck 20 homes in Wayne since April 25, 18 in Englewood since May 2, 14 in Leone in the past six months and eight in Paramus since Saturday. There have also been burglaries in Englewood Cliffs, Lodi, Little Falls and Wanaque.
Wayne Police Chief John Reardon tells The Record newspaper the thieves are targeting high-end homes, suggesting they’re looking to yield a large volume of valuables.
Jewelry has been the favorite target in the heists.
