A construction worker has died after a ceiling collapsed on him during renovation work in a Syracuse, N.Y., office building.
Syracuse Police identify the victim as 25-year-old Steven Pallotta of Liverpool. He was working with a crew from J.S. Development in the Snow Building Wednesday. Police say Pallotta was standing on a ladder taking down a piece of concrete and lathe ceiling when a 15-by-15-foot section of ceiling fell on him.
Pallotta was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 1:40 p.m.
The accident is being investigated by Syracuse Police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
