A judge has approved a $95,000 settlement for a New Hampshire couple whose 7-year-old son suffered a brain injury when he fell from a piece of playground equipment at a mall.
The Citizen reports Allan and Wendy Kirker of Laconia were approved the settlement with OCW Retail Belmont LLC, the owner of the Belknap Mall, and Wilder Companies, the property manager, both based in Boston.
Court records say the boy fell and hit his head in November after he had climbed to the top of a Step2 Climber known as “Skyward Summit,” which is between 6 and 8 feet tall.
Doctors said the boy suffered a small temporal subdural hematoma, a gathering of blood on the brain’s surface. He was treated at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
