A powerful thunderstorm may have spawned a tornado that caused a building collapse in northeast Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Fire Department received a report of a collapse of a large section of roof at a beer distributor around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Gloria Deckard of the Beer Hut store said the place is totaled. She said the business has been on the block since 1974.
Benny the Bum’s Crabhouse, a popular neighborhood bar and restaurant, also lost part of its roof in the high winds.
National Weather Service investigators were working to determine if a twister did touch down.
