The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. has removed from its shelves tortilla chip products that may contain undeclared wheat and soy, which may trigger allergic reaction among some consumers.
The supermarket chain said that the products are being pulled from shelves at its 390 stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.
Stop & Shop says it was notified by Garden of Eatin, a unit of Colorado-based Hain Celestial Group Inc., that the products contain the undeclared allergens.
Garden of Eatin says the products have been recalled voluntarily elsewhere and with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Stop & Shop says it has not received reports of illness. Supermarkets are offering refunds.
